W and O on same page

Obama and Bush

W uttered not a word during the 8 years of O…..as the socialization of the country ran amok, massive lying about Obamacare and other policies, U.S. geopolitical stature disintegrated, Defense stretched and bled and support and capabilities declined, economic growth never touched 3% in the entire eight years (unprecedented!), labor participation rate plunged…. Jobs lost, energy policy destructive to the economy and jobs, climate change treaty a rip off of the American citizens, deficits/debt run up at an unprecedented rate to unprecedented heights, class envy and racial conflict and hatred was encouraged from the White House, DOJ ever more corrupt, …Read more »

Kill NFL taxpayer funding

Boycott NFL

As you are probably aware, two things have been dominating the news headlines this week—the NFL and government spending. But did you know that the two are more closely linked than one would first assume? In the last two decades, the NFL has received over an estimated $7 billion in taxpayer funding—just for their stadiums. This estimate doesn’t take into account the hundreds of millions of dollars the NFL receives annually in tax-breaks, security costs, tax-free municipal bonds, land grants, and discounted utilities. To give you a point of reference, during the 2016 season, the NFL brought in over $14 …Read more »

10 things to be gone

gone in future

There are many things to look forward to in the future and 10 things that will probably disappear. Some Examples: 1. The Post Office Get ready to imagine a world without the post office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. E-mail, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the post office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills.

Demise of retail stores

Retail gone

Surely online shopping is siphoning sales from retail stores (even though the retail chains have tried to capture online sales on their own web sites).  But another factor is that the number of stores and malls built in America over past decades was absurd.  I saw a statistic on the retail square footage per 000 inhabitants in the US compared to the retail store footage in advanced EC countries and it was something like six times more in the US. It’s nuts.

Future Policies Part2

Self Driving Cars

Autonomous cars: In 2018, the first self driving cars will appear for the public.  Around 2020, the entire auto industry will be disrupted.  Most won’t want to own a car.  You will call a car with your phone, it will show up at your location and drive you to your destination.  You will not need to park it.  You only pay for the driven distance and can be productive while traveling.  Most kids will never get a driver’s license and will never own a car.

Venezuela socialism

Venezuela: The incredible legacy of an experiment with socialism

Venezuela: The incredible legacy of an experiment with socialism.  Here’s the legacy of Venezuela’s experiment with socialism: daily riots and protests that have resulted in at least 40 deaths in recent weeks at the hands of government security forces. Inflation estimated at 720 percent. Shortages of basic foods and medicines. An average weight loss among Venezuelans of 19 pounds, which had nothing to do with the South Beach diet. Newborn babies deposited in dresser drawers because hospitals have no beds. Zoo animals hunted down and butchered for food by the ravenous population.

Tiny houses

With more than $300,000 and volunteer homeowners, Multnomah County has a new idea to fight homelessness: Build tiny houses in people’s backyards and rent them out to families with children now living on the street.  The homeowners would pay nothing for the construction. They would become landlords and maintain the units for homeless families for five years.

Greenspan

We are studying the life and times of former Fed chief Alan Greenspan. Not that we expect to discover anything new. We were more or less awake and alert during his entire public career; there is little that isn’t known about the man and his times already.  ‘The best-known public official since Pontius Pilate’ is how we described him in one of our books.

Debt Ceiling Holiday

Two weeks after David Stockman warned that “the market is apparently pricing in a huge Trump stimulus. But if you just look at the real world out there, the only thing that’s going to happen is a fiscal bloodbath and a White House train wreck like never before in U.S. history” and exclaimed that, when looking at markets, “what’s going on today is complete insanity” he is back with another interview, this time with Greg Hunter of USAWatchdog ]in which he, once again warns, that a giant fiscal bloodbath is coming soon, and urges listeners to pay especially close attention …Read more »
